Quail are one of the most physically challenging game birds to hunt in California. They can be hard to find. However, when you jump a covey, it is exhilarating. You have a chance at multiple birds. It will get your heart pumping. San Joaquin Guide Service has several ranches to hunt quail. Knowing these coveys normally have a small range, we try not to over hunt them. We try to have a good idea of the population of the area we are going to hunt before we go in. These are wild birds that are tough, strong and fast. You need to be a quick shot. Quail have some of the best meat of any game in California. If you are up for a challenge or just want to learn some new areas, San Joaquin Guide Service can also guide you for quail on public land in the Sierra mountains.

Central California Quail Hunting Season

The season begins the third Saturday in October extending through the last Sunday in January.

The Central California Quail Hunting Guide

Hunters meet at designated locations and times. On arrival, guide will discuss safety precautions and brief you on the area to be hunted.
